The action’s goals and
odjectives:
The main goal of this
action is the inclusion of historical-natural complex “Ice mountain and Kungur
Ice cave” ” in UNESCO World Nature Heritage List.
Objectives:
I. Providing of the best preservation of
the nominated object with all its geomorphological, geological, landscape,
karstological, biotic and non-biotic components, geo- and biodiversity and
ecological processes, protection of the current homeostasis of self-reproduction
of related ecosystems and their protection from human-caused factors.
II. Using of the nominated object for scientific research in order to obtain
practically meaningful knowledge about the dynamics of karst processes and its
further use.
III. Using the natural heritage in order to raise environmental awareness of
population and its education. Global dimension of the significance and
uniqueness of the territory will be explained to the local population as well.
IV. The development of further use of natural resources in the region through
support of traditional crafts, products and eco-tourism (in the latter case the
existence of ice cave will be used as one of the attractors), as a source of
income for local people. Raising awareness of local and foreign visitors about
the value of the facility, using all channels of communication, including
internet pages, eño-paths, dialog study, films, articles and other forms
The action’s results:
The Convention for the
Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage (Convention) provides ample
opportunities in the legal, informational and economic field, communications and
contacts, developing and improving for more than three decades. The status of a
World Heritage object contributes to obtaining a number of advantages, both in
the environmental context, and in terms of the full support of the territories
included in the World Heritage List.
Major benefits can be summarized as following short list:
1. Increasing the prestige of the territories and their administrative
authorities.
2. Popularization of the objects, included in the List.
3. Priority in attracting funding for the support of World Heritage objects.
4. Development of alternative environmental management (of the environmental
tourism, traditional crafts, etc.).
5. Additional safeguards of the integrity and preservation of unique natural
complexes.
6. Organization of monitoring and control of the state of conservation of
natural objects.
It is
obvious that the international community will continue to provide primary
assistance and full support to the territories, which were identified by it as
the most significant for the nature protection and conservation of biodiversity.
These are the territories, that were, as a result of careful selection, included
into the World Heritage List.
